Alteno Jeroid Oglesby

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Seneca man remains in jail today after his arrest, and after his bond was denied, on multiple charges which include a charge of Attempted Murder.

35 year old Alteno Jeroid Oglesby, of White Oak Hill Drive, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 8:30am Sunday.  Besides the Attempted Murder charge, Oglesby has also been charged with one count each of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and Unlawfully Placing a Child at Risk in relation to the same incident.

Oglesby will appear before a Circuit Court Judge, at a later time, regarding his bond.

Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau were dispatched late Saturday evening to the White Oak Hill Drive address in regards to reports of a shooting.  While en route to the incident scene, Deputies learned that the victim, an adult female, had been shot and was headed to the hospital in a personal vehicle.

At the incident scene, Deputies made contact with Oglesby, who came out of the house, was taken into custody and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.

Deputies began their investigation and learned that Oglesby and the victim had been in an argument in a room inside of the residence.  During the course of the argument, Oglesby fired multiple shots into the floor of the residence with a handgun and then shot the victim in the upper torso.

During the course of the investigation, Deputies also learned that there was a child inside of the room where the argument and shooting took place.  There were also two teenagers inside of the residence at that time.

The investigation was turned over to a Violent Crimes Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau.  Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, the Investigator obtained the arrest warrants against Oglesby.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  Due to the nature of the incident, and for safety and health privacy reasons, neither the victim’s name nor condition will be released by the Sheriff’s Office.

Also, no information that could, either directly or indirectly, identify any of the minors that were on the scene of the incident will be released by the Sheriff’s Office.
