(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Seneca man remains in jail today after his arrest over the weekend on multiple charges, including a charge for Trafficking in Methamphetamine, during a Warrant Service.
50 year old Billy Wayne Paradise, of Paradise Place Trail, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 1:41pm Saturday. A hold was also placed on Paradise by the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Service.
Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to an address on S. Highway 11, near Blackjack Road, Saturday morning. Paradise, who had three outstanding General Session Bench Warrants, was located on scene. After seeing the Deputies, Paradise ran from the scene with Deputies in pursuit.
Paradise was located in the woods nearby by a Deputy who then attempted to place him under arrest after catching up with him. Paradise resisted arrest, did not follow Deputy commands and attempted to take the Deputy’s Taser away from him.
A second Deputy located the Deputy and Paradise and aided in taking Paradise into custody. Additional Deputies arrived on scene as well as an agent from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resource who was close by and responded to provide assistance to Sheriff’s Office Deputies.
During a search of Paradise, a quantity of Methamphetamine was located on his person. According to an arrest warrant, the amount of narcotics seized was approximately 20.7 grams.
Besides the Trafficking in Methamphetamine arrest warrant, Paradise was also charged with one count each of Assaulting an Office while Resisting Arrest and Resisting Arrest. The General Sessions Bench Warrants was obtained after Paradise failed to appear in court on previous charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Resisting Arrest and Domestic Violence – 2nd Degree.
Paradise was featured on a Crimestoppers of Oconee County, Inc. Wanted Wednesday segment back in July of this year on the Crimestoppers Facebook page.
Paradise was given a combined $65,000 surety bond on the three Sheriff’s Office charges from this weekend.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank our law enforcement partners with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources for their assistance and help in the apprehension of Paradise.
