(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the name of an Anderson County man who was arrested and has been charged in a shooting incident that occurred yesterday afternoon near Seneca.
Investigators obtained arrest warrants today against 26 year old Chauncey Demetrius Williams of Meadowbrook Circle in Anderson. Williams was released from the hospital yesterday after receiving treatment for a gunshot wound and was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:11am this morning.
Williams has been charged with one count each of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime, First Degree Burglary and Petit Larceny. According to the arrest warrants, Williams is accused of entering a residence on Timber Ridge Lane without consent and to commit a crime while armed with a deadly weapon. Williams is also accused of stealing a pair of shoes from the residence.
Besides the arrest of Williams by investigators, two other subjects were identified in the investigation, with one of those subjects being cleared of charges based on evidence gathered so far. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking to identify a fourth subject in regards to the incident. At this time, there is no danger to the public, according to Sheriff’s Office investigators.
An investigation began yesterday afternoon after deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an address on Timber Ridge Lane near Seneca due to reports of shots being fired. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a subject, identified as Williams, was at Oconee Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division were notified and responded to the hospital. As more facts became available, it was determined that a group of individuals burglarized a home while armed. While on the property, the homeowner discharged a firearm, striking one of the subjects.
After being released from the hospital, Williams, was arrested and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.

Due to the ongoing investigation and for safety reasons as well, no further names are being released at this time, which includes the names of identified suspects, witnesses or the victim in the case. For safety purposes as well, the Sheriff’s Office will also not release the actual physical address where the incident occurred.
