OCSO Files Additional Charges against Westminster Man Arrested during Execution of Search Warrant

(Walhalla, SC)————————————–Narcotics Agents from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office filed six additional charges, over the weekend, against a Westminster man who was arrested Friday during the execution of a search warrant.


Last Friday morning, Narcotics Agents and deputies from the Special Operations Bureau, executed a search warrant at 4725 Toccoa Highway, which is near Jenkins Bridge Road. During the execution of the search warrant, a Methamphetamine lab and a pill press were seized.


Due to the discovery of the Methamphetamine lab, Narcotics agents requested Hazmat units to respond to the scene, as well as a Clean Up crew, due to the presence of hazardous chemicals and substances. According to Narcotics Agents, crews cleaned up over 220 pounds of hazardous materials and chemicals at the scene.


Agents had obtained arrest warrants against the homeowner, 29 year old Colby Edward Watts, on charges of Distribution of Methamphetamine and Distribution of Oxycodone due to controlled purchases of narcotics by undercover operatives working at the direction of the Sheriff’s Office.


Watts was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center last Friday evening and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 11:01pm.


Based upon additional evidence that was recovered during the investigation, Agents have charged Watts additionally with one count each of Manufacturing MDA (Methhylenedioxyamphetamine), Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Alprazolam), Possession of Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Violation of the Drug Distribution Law.


Watts was given a combined $116,615.00 surety bond. Watts was released from the Detention Center on February 21st after posting bond.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
