Gregory Scott Greynolds, Jr.

Richard William Mathews, Jr.

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------Deputies responding to reports of a domestic disturbance near Seneca late Wednesday evening arrested a Seneca man who had multiple outstanding arrest warrants, including a charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 1st Degree.

28 year old Gregory Scott Clark Greynolds, Jr. also had outstanding arrest warrants on charges of a Sex Offender Registry Violation – 1st Offense and Domestic Violence – 3rd Degree.

Greynolds, Jr. also had charges of Assault and Battery – 2nd Degree by the Seneca Police Department and an arrest warrant for a Violation of Probation.

A deputy and a Seneca Police officer located Greynolds, Jr. inside of an apartment on Brookwood Drive after responding to reports of a domestic disturbance. Greynolds, Jr. was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center and booked into the Detention Center around 9:41am Thursday.

The Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor charge was obtained by an investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division after evidence showed that Greynolds, Jr. had sexual relations with a teenager earlier this year at an address on Beth Lane near Seneca. Under South Carolina law, the charge against Greynolds, Jr. was elevated to a First Degree offense due to the fact that the victim was under 16 years of age and Greynolds, Jr. had been convicted of an offense that required him to register as a sex offender.

A second subject, 24 year old Richard William Mathews, Jr. of Seneca, was arrested in relation to the same incident on a charge of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Mathews, Jr., who was arrested on October 2nd of this year, is accused of providing alcohol to a minor, according to an arrest warrant.

The Sex Offender Registry Violation charge was obtained by the Sex Offender Registrar of the Sheriff’s Office. According to the arrest warrant, Greynolds, Jr. failed to report a change of employment status within three business days of the change of address, which is a sentencing requirement of a court order that required Greynolds, Jr. to be placed on the Sex Offender Registry.

The Domestic Violence – 3rd Degree charge was obtained by an investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division after evidence was obtained, according to an arrest warrant, that Greynolds, Jr. assaulted a female member of his household on July 23rd of this year at an address on Gloria Lane near Seneca.

At this time, Greynolds, Jr. remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center after his bond was denied on the Criminal Sexual Conduct charge. Greynolds, Jr. will appear before a Circuit Court Judge at a later date regarding bond on that charge.

Greynolds, Jr. was given a combined $8,500.00 surety bond on the Sex Offender Registry charge, the Domestic Violence charge and the Assault and Battery charge.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Seneca Police Department for their assistance in the arrest of Greynolds, Jr.
