OCSO Arrests Oconee County Man on Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Charges

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------Two separate investigations involving two separate minor victims has led to the arrest of an Oconee County man on six counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 3rd Degree.


46 year old Bobby Ray Broome, Jr., who does not have a fixed address, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 4:51pm Saturday. Broome has also been charged by investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division with two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.


Reports were filed by family members of the two victims on August 21st and August 23rd of this year in regards to allegations of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor which involved two separate victims. The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.


Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Broome, Jr. inappropriately touched the two minors in 2020 and 2021. Warrants obtained by investigators also accused Broome, Jr. of obtaining cigarettes for both minors as well.


Broome, Jr., who was also arrested on four outstanding Magistrate Bench Warrants, remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center at this time. Broome, Jr. was given a combined $70,000.00 surety bond on the Sheriff’s Office charges. Broome, Jr. will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing with the investigation, and in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victims, the Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing any information that could in any way identify the victims in this case.
