Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Seeks the Public’s Help in Locating Westminster Man Wanted for Murder

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help today in our search for a Westminster man charged with Murder in a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian that occurred on Monday afternoon in southern Oconee County.

 

43 year old William Barney Drummond has been charged in the death earlier this week of 34 year old Devon James Turner.  According to an arrest warrant, Drummond was operating a black 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 dually when he struck Turner on S. Highway 11 near E. Spearman Road, which is near the South Union Community, on Monday. 

 

The E-911 Communications Center received a call at around 3:55pm Monday in regards to the accident.

 

Investigators believe that Drummond is armed and dangerous.  Investigators are asking the public not to approach Drummond if they see him.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  Due to the ongoing investigation, and to prevent the premature release of information that could interfere with a prospective law enforcement proceeding, the Sheriff’s Office will not release any further information on the investigation at this time.
