Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Makes Arrest in Monday Morning Shooting Investigation

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------An active investigation by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office into a Monday morning shooting incident on the Utica Mill Hill has led to the arrest, and charges being filed, against a Seneca man.


Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Divisions have charged 30 year old Manuel James David Paulino, of Padgett Street, with one count each of Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime. Paulino was located earlier today at the Padgett Street address during the execution of a search warrant and arrested. Paulino is currently being booked into the Oconee County Detention Center and he has been served his arrest warrants.


Earlier this morning, deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division were dispatched to an address on Humbert Street around 6:23am due to reports of an adult male who had suffered a gunshot wound. According to an arrest warrant, Paulino shot the victim with a shotgun.


Deputies administered first aid to the victim until paramedics arrived on scene. Paramedics later transported the victim to the hospital. Deputies continued their investigation at the scene and notified the Criminal Investigations Division.


Due to safety and privacy concerns, the Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing any information on the victim, including the victim’s name, condition and which hospital the victim was admitted to for treatment.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
