Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Holds Graduation Ceremony for Tenth “Citizens Police Academy”

(Walhalla, SC)------------------A graduation ceremony was held last Tuesday night at the Blue Ridge Community Center for the tenth graduating class of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office “Citizens Police Academy.”


18 citizens of Oconee County graduated from this year’s class. 17 of the graduates, and their families, along with deputies and employees from the Sheriff’s Office, attended the ceremony. The meal was made possible by several businesses that sponsored this year’s CPA.


The graduates completed a 12-week program that met on Tuesday nights during the late summer and fall of this year, plus one Saturday morning.


Among the speakers at last Tuesday night’s graduation ceremony was Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw, Oconee County State Senator Thomas Alexander and the guest speaker, Charles Lutz, author and retired DEA Special Agent.


Each graduate received a certificate of graduation and a certificate from the South Carolina State Senate as well as a two Challenge Coins.


The Sheriff’s Office is making plans for the 2024 edition of the “Citizens Police Academy” and will be announcing those dates once they are confirmed.
