(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Fair Play man remains in jail today, after his bond was denied, on multiple charges in a recent Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Investigation.

40 year old Joseph Adam Brown, of Odell Cain Drive, was initially booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 12:48pm on Wednesday, March 26th on a charge of Assault and Battery – 2nd Degree.

On Thursday of last week, twelve additional arrest warrants were obtained against Brown on charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – Second Degree, as well as two counts of Voyeurism.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began on March 23rd of this year when a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau received information regarding allegations that Brown had previously sexually assaulted a minor.  On the date of the initial report, Brown was observed looking at the victim in a bathroom through a crack in a door while the victim showered, according to an arrest warrant.

The Department of Social Services was notified and the victim was moved to a safe environment.  The investigation was turned over a Violent Crimes Investigator with the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Based upon evidence that was obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Brown had sexual relations and intercourse with the victim between the years of 2020 through 2024 while the victim was a child and then a teenager. Also in 2020, Brown inappropriately touched the victim.  Brown also placed a camera in a bathroom in 2023 in order to record the victim while the victim bathed, according to an arrest warrant.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victim, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, directly or indirectly, identify the victim in the investigation.
