Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Conducting Death Investigation



(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation today after a body was discovered in the southern part of the County this morning.

 

The E-911 Communications Center received a call at around 9:44am today in regards to a report of an adult male beneath a bridge on Blackjack Road near Highway 11 and the Foxwood Hills Community.  The male was unresponsive.

 

Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau and personnel from Oconee County Emergency Services responded to the scene and confirmed that the male was deceased.  The Coroner’s Office was notified and Coroner Karl Addis responded to the scene.

 

Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Bureau also responded to the scene along with a Crime Scene Technician as the investigation began. 

 

The manner and cause of death will be released by the Coroner’s Office at the appropriate time.  At this time, the Sheriff’s Office believes that there is no danger to the public. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation, which is in the early stages, and no further information will be released at this time.  To aid in the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with any information to contact Crimestoppers, where you don’t have to give your name.  Tips can be submitted by calling 1-844-71-CRIME, online at 71crime.com or by downloading the free P3 app on your mobile device.
