Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Charges Seneca Man with Attempted Murder

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A 39 year old Seneca man was arrested earlier today by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime after Deputies conducted an investigation into reports of a shooting incident.


Johnny Lamar Ramey was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 12:33pm today on a Temporary Custody Order. The arrest warrants were obtained this afternoon.


At this time, Ramey remains in jail pending a bond hearing.


Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau, and an Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau, responded to an address on Red Bird Lane, near Campbell Town Road and Seneca, this morning in regards to reports of a shooting incident and began an investigation.


Deputies met with the victim and with Ramey. Based upon information obtained during the investigation, the victim and Ramey reportedly had an argument concerning items that were

stolen and money that Ramey reportedly owed the victim.


During the course of the events this morning, and based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, Ramey fired a shot from his 9mm pistol at the victim. The victim was not shot and no injuries were reported.


Ramey claimed that the victim threw a brick and hit the top of Ramey’s building. Deputies, however, did not locate a brick on Ramey’s property while collecting evidence from the scene.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
