Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Westminster Man in Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Investigation

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Westminster man remains in jail today, at the Oconee County Detention Center, after his arrest yesterday on two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – First Degree.

 

22 year old Nicholas Michael Ungaro of Westminster was booked into jail around 6:04pm Tuesday.  Ungaro’s bond was denied on both charges after a bond hearing.  Ungaro will appear before a Circuit Court Judge, at a later time, regarding his bond. 

 

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began Monday after a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau spoke with a family member of the victim’s in regards to reports of a sexual assault.  The Deputy then notified a Violent Crimes Investigator with the Criminal Investigations Bureau.  The Department of Social Services was also notified.

 

Based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, it was determined that Ungaro had sexual intercourse with two separate victims, who are both children, according to the arrest warrants.  According to the arrest warrants, one incident with one child occurred on Sunday, February 11th while the other incident, with the other child, occurred on Monday, February 12th. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  Due to the nature of the crimes, and in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation and that of the victims, who are both minors, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, in anyway, either directly or indirectly, identify either victim in this investigation.
