(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------------A West Union woman remains in jail today, pending a bond hearing, after her arrest on charges overnight, which include Trafficking in Methamphetamine.

39 year old Megan Nichole Beech, of Big Brown Drive, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 5:37am today.  Beside the arrest warrant for Trafficking in Methamphetamine, arrest warrants were also obtained against Beech on four counts of Furnishing Contraband into a Detention Facility, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and one count of Possession of Fentanyl.

A Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division, on routine patrol early this morning on Highway 123, performed a traffic stop on a black Dodge Journey following a traffic stop due to a traffic violation.  The traffic stop occurred at the intersection of Highway 123 near Highway 93 inside of Oconee County.

The Deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Beech.  A check with dispatch revealed that Beech had an outstanding arrest warrant on a charge of Forgery that was obtained by a Financial Crimes Investigator from the Sheriff’s Office in January of this year.

A search of the vehicle produced narcotics and drug paraphernalia.  Beech was placed under arrest and transported to jail.

During the booking process at the Detention Center, quantities of narcotics were also discovered on Beech’s person inside of the jail.

According to arrest warrants, Beech had in her possession quantities of Methamphetamine, Psilocybin Mushrooms, Methadone and Fentanyl and Methamphetamine.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
