(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A separate investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division led to the discovery of child pornography on a mobile device, which enabled investigators to charge a West Union man with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – 3rd Degree.
36 year old Christopher Eric Carver of Rose Lake Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 4:16pm Thursday. At this time, Carver remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a $10,000 surety bond. Carver will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released.
Investigators received consent to search the mobile device in regards to an unrelated investigation. After the discovery of what appeared to be child pornography on the mobile device, investigators obtained a search warrant. According to the arrest warrant, Carver knowingly possessed material that contained an image of a minor appearing in a state of sexually explicit nudity.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
