Larry Gene Griffin
(Walhalla, SC)————————————–A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau, conducting a welfare check yesterday near Walhalla, arrested a man on an unlawful weapons charge due to a previous domestic violence conviction, according to the arrest warrant.
59 year old Larry Gene Griffin, of W. South Broad Street in Walhalla, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:30pm. At this time, Griffin remains in jail on a $125,000 surety bond.
The deputy discovered Griffin inside a pickup truck on Playground Road near Yellow Brick Road yesterday morning. After making contact with Griffin, the deputy found two rifles with some ammunition.
A check with dispatch revealed that, according to Griffin’s criminal history, he was prohibited from possessing a firearm. Griffin was then placed under arrest and transported to jail.
