Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Walhalla Man in Homicide Investigation

(UPDATE: Investigators from the Oconee County Sheriff's Office have also charged 23 year old Caleb Aguirre with Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime.)


(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Walhalla man today, in a homicide investigation, after a body was discovered inside of a residence early Sunday morning.

 

23 year old Caleb Aguirre, of Thompson Avenue, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 8:31am today on a Temporary Custody Order.  Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged Aguirre with one count of Murder.

 

The E-911 Communications Center received a call at around 5:30am this morning after the caller discovered a male, who had sustained gunshot wounds, inside of a home on Snead Road near Walhalla.  Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau and Paramedics responded to the scene.  The patient was located deceased by responders and the Oconee County Coroner’s Office was notified. 

 

The investigation was turned over to Investigators assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau.  As evidence was gathered in the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office received word of a possible suspect, which was later identified as Aguirre. 

 

At around 6:05am this morning, Dispatch was notified that Aguirre was with a family member on Thompson Road.  An Investigator made contact with Aguirre and placed him under arrest.  Aguirre was then transported to jail. 

 

According to the arrest warrants, Aguirre caused the death of the victim by shooting the victim multiple times in the torso. 

 

In a release, the Oconee County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 24 year old Brandon Alvarado-Gaspar.

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  According to Investigators, the homicide appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
