(Walhalla, SC)------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Tiger, GA woman today on charges of providing Fentanyl to an inmate at the Oconee County Detention Center earlier this month.

24 year old Makeena Leeanna Ryan, of Turpin Street, has been charged with one count each of Distribution of Fentanyl and Possession of Contraband inside a Detention Facility.  Ryan also has a listed address of Biggerstaff Road near Seneca.

Ryan was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 9:43am this morning after she turned herself in at the Law Enforcement Center.  Ryan remains in jail, at this time, pending a bond hearing.

A Narcotics Agent from the Special Operations Bureau responded to the jail on the evening of Friday, February 7th in regards to a report of an inmate who had overdosed.  The inmate received life-saving measures inside of the jail from Detention Deputies and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Evidence was collected from the scene as part of the investigation.  Ryan and the inmate who overdosed did not share the same cell.

Ryan was arrested on February 3rd of this year due to a Probation Violation and received a $15,000 surety bond.  Ryan was released from jail on February 20th and not charged at that time with the February 7th incident as further investigation was required.

As the investigation continued, and further evidence was gathered in the case, the Narcotics Agent was able to obtain arrest warrants against Ryan.

The inmate who overdosed recovered after receiving treatment at the hospital and has returned to the Detention Center.

“The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will hold anyone accountable for distributing drugs and contraband inside the Oconee County Detention Center,” says Anna Orr, Lieutenant of Narcotics and Vice from the Special Operations Bureau.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
