Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Tamassee Man in Domestic Violence Investigation

Tracy Lee Fowler

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------A Wednesday morning domestic violence investigation by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a Tamassee man on multiple charges.

52 year old Tracy Lee Fowler was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 9:35am today on a Temporary Custody Order until arrest warrants were obtained on charges of Kidnapping, Domestic Violence – High and Aggravated and Resisting Arrest.

Deputies responded to an address on Cheohee Valley Road to speak with the victim, who told deputies that she had been assaulted. Deputies discovered, during the investigation, a physical manifestation of injuries on the victim. Deputies were also informed that the victim’s phone was broken by Fowler, which prevented her from calling for help. The victim was transported to the hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

Deputies also responded to an address on Dynamite Road, which is the location where the assault occurred. Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, deputies attempted to arrest Fowler. However, Fowler shut the door of the residence and barricaded himself inside.

Three juveniles were also inside of the residence at the time that Fowler barricaded himself inside. Additional manpower from the Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and the S.W.A.T. team was placed on standby.

Deputies began negotiations with the Fowler, who came out of the residence and was taken into custody without incident. The three juveniles were placed in a safe environment.

Due to the nature of the incident, and the charges that have been filed, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing the victim’s name. Also, due to safety and privacy concerns, the Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing information regarding patient condition or the location where the victim was transported for treatment.
