Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Weapon Charges

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------A traffic stop for defective equipment last Friday afternoon near Seneca led to the arrest of a Seneca man on a charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Possession of a Stolen Firearm charge.


52 year old Marty Allen Crawford, of Tiger Pride Lane, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on December 16th around 4:43pm. Crawford, who was also charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol, was released last Saturday morning on a combined $45,000 personal recognizance bond.


The traffic stop occurred in the area of Tokeena Road near Strawberry Farm Road and was executed by a deputy from the P.A.C.E. (Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement) team. During the stop, the deputy made contact with the driver of a burgundy Pontiac, who was identified as Crawford.


During the course of the investigation, the deputy received consent to search the person of Crawford. During the course of the search, the deputy discovered a quantity of Methamphetamine as well as a Taurus 9mm handgun on the person of Crawford.


A check with dispatch revealed that the firearm was reported stolen. Also, Crawford does not possess a Concealed Weapons Permit.


After the admission by Crawford of additional quantities of narcotics inside of his vehicle, deputies conducted a search and located additional quantities of Methamphetamine inside.


Crawford was placed under arrest and transported to jail. Approximately 10.02 grams of Methamphetamine was seized as part of the investigation.
