Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on a Trafficking in Methamphetamine Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A traffic stop yesterday afternoon near Seneca, by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, has led to multiple drug charges being filed against a Seneca man and the seizure of approximately 225 grams of Methamphetamine.


31 year old Andrew Wilson Potts, of Lonsdale Street in Seneca, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 4:29pm Monday on a Temporary Custody Order until arrest warrants were obtained this morning based upon evidence obtained during the investigation.


Potts has been charged with one count of Trafficking in Methamphetamine and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance (for Xanax and Oxycodone).


At this time, Potts remains in jail pending a bond hearing.


A Deputy from the P.A.C.E. (Pro-Active Community Enforcement) team, on routine patrol near Seneca Monday afternoon, initiated a traffic stop on a black BMW SUV for a traffic violation on Friendship Road. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Potts, pulled into a driveway at an address on Singing Pines Road and ran away.


Potts was taken into custody without incident as additional Deputy’s arrived on scene. Potts had a quantity of narcotics in a black bag that was around his neck and shoulder area.


Animal Control units also responded to the scene to retrieve a dog that inside of Potts’ vehicle. A search of the vehicle prior to the vehicle being towed produced additional quantities of narcotics inside.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
