
(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------------A Salem woman was arrested over the weekend, during a traffic stop by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, on a charge of Trafficking in Fentanyl.
37 year old Ashley Claire Parmele, of Barker Court, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 4:20am on Saturday, March 22nd. Parmele was also charged with one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
A Deputy on routine patrol early Saturday morning observed a silver Nissan SUV, with an expired tag, traveling on Sandifer Boulevard near Highway 11. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver of Nissan, identified as Parmele, who told the Deputy that she did not have a Driver’s License.
The Deputy confirmed that Parmele was Driving under Suspension. After receiving consent to search the Nissan, the Deputy discovered a quantity of narcotics inside of the vehicle.
The Deputy then placed Parmele under arrest and transported her to jail. Parmele was also issued citations for Driving under Suspension for the expired tag.
The weight of the Fentanyl seized by the Deputy was approximately 5.5 grams.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
