(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Salem man today on multiple charges in relation to a Criminal Sexual Conduct investigation.

57 year old William Franklin Galbreath, of Collins Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 1:10pm today on 12 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct – Second Degree, five counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree and two counts of Assault and Battery – 2nd Degree.  Galbreath was arrested and transported to jail by a Deputy from the Warrants Unit.

On January 20th of this year, a Violent Crimes Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau received a tip from a law enforcement officer in Tennessee in regards to a reported sexual assault of a minor by Galbreath.  The Investigator also learned of a second victim, also a minor, who was reportedly sexually assaulted by Galbreath.

Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Galbreath had inappropriately touched and sexually assaulted one of the victims while that victim was a child in 2019 and later as a teenager between the years of 2022-2025.

Galbreath also sexually assaulted the second victim, a teenager, in 2024 and 2025.

At this time, Galbreath remains in jail pending a bond hearing.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of both victims, who are minors, the Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, either directly or indirectly, identify the victims in this ongoing investigation.
