Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Salem Man on a Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Salem man remains in jail today, on a $100,000 surety bond, after his arrest yesterday on a charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree.

 

27 year old Roger Lewis Bryant was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 4:47pm Thursday.    

 

A Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to Oconee Memorial Hospital on the afternoon of April 4th of this year in regards to a reported sexual assault.  After arriving at the hospital, the Deputy spoke with a family member and began an investigation. 

 

The investigation was turned over to a Violent Crimes Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau.  Based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, the Investigator determined that Bryant had touched the victim, a child, in an inappropriate, sexual manner on April 4th.  The crime involved only one victim. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the minor victim, and considering the nature of the crime committed, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, either directly or indirectly, identify the victim in this investigation.
