Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Greer Man on 20 Charges in Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Investigation

(Walhalla, SC)---------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Greer man yesterday on 20 outstanding arrest warrants charging him with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – Second Degree.

 

44 year old Miguel Angel Blandon, of S. Highway 14, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 1:28pm Wednesday by Deputies from the Warrants Unit.  Blandon was transported from the Greenville County Detention Center to Oconee County. 

 

After being served with his arrest warrants, Blandon appeared before a Judge and was given a combined $300,000 surety bond.  Blandon was transported back to the Greenville County Detention Center yesterday with a detainer from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

 

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation in November of 2023 after a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau spoke with a family member of the victim.  The family member contacted the Sheriff’s Office in regards to an assault that the victim reported had occurred in 2021 on Holcombe Circle and Lake Jocassee near Salem. 

 

The investigation was transferred to an Investigator with the Violent Crimes Unit in the Criminal Investigations Bureau.  During the course of the investigation, the Investigator obtained evidence that Blandon sexually assaulted the victim during the months of May, June and July of 2021 when the victim was a teenager.  The assaults involved only one victim and involved only Blandon and the victim. 

 

Based on evidence obtained during the investigation, arrest warrants were obtained against Blandon charging him with 20 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree.

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victim, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing any information that could, in any way, identify the victim in this investigation.
