
(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Asheville, NC teenager yesterday on multiple charges in relation to two separate criminal investigations at the same Oconee County auto dealership.
18 year old Trenton N. Porter, of Erskine Street, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 1:13pm Tuesday. Porter was transported from the Cleveland County (NC) Detention Center to Oconee County yesterday by a Deputy from the Warrants Unit.
At this time, Porter remains in jail on a combined $72,125.00 surety bond.
In the first investigation, a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to a dealership address on Clemson Boulevard, at around 9:09am, on Monday, December 30th in reference to reports of some vehicle break-ins. The Deputy gathered evidence from the dealership, which included windows being busted out of some vehicles and efforts to try to program the vehicles in order to start them. The Deputy also obtained evidence that a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was driven away from the dealership.
In the second investigation, a Deputy responded to the dealership address in the early morning hours of January 31st of this year in reference to reports of a suspicious person. Deputies began an investigation and observed broken glass where a building was broken into and accessed. Deputies also discovered a key box had been broken into with some vehicle keys stolen.
The investigations were turned over to an Investigator with the Property Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
Based upon evidence obtained during both investigations, the Investigator charged Porter with one count each of Malicious Injury to Property and Grand Larceny in reference to the first investigation. According to an arrest warrant, Porter damaged windows to six vehicles.
Porter was also charged, according to an arrest warrant, with stealing the Chevrolet Camaro which was valued at approximately $64,987.00. Porter was arrested in Cleveland County, NC while in possession of the stolen Camaro.
In the second investigation, the Investigator charged Porter with one count each of Second Degree Burglary, Petit Larceny and Malicious Injury to Property.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
