(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------------An Anderson County man remains in jail today, pending a bond hearing, after his arrest Tuesday on multiple charges, which include Kidnapping and First Degree Burglary.
39 year old Brandon Lysle Vanblarcom, who has listed addresses of Extended Lane and York Street, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 7:27pm yesterday. Besides the arrest warrants for Kidnapping and First Degree Burglary, arrest warrants were also obtained against Vanblarcom on charges of Domestic Violence – High and Aggravated, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
Vanblarcom also had outstanding arrest warrants on charges of a Violation of a Court Order of Protection and Removal of an Electronic Monitoring Device.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Bureau conducted a welfare check on an adult female victim Monday afternoon at an address off of Tamassee Knob Road due to outstanding warrants against Vanblarcom. The female victim was not located, which precipitated a further search by Investigators.
On Tuesday, Vanblarcom and the female victim were located in a motorhome in the Sumter National Forest, near Cheohee Valley, with assistance from the Uniform Patrol Bureau and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
The Sheriff’s Office received information that Vanblarcom was staying at that location in the motorhome with the female victim.
The same female was a victim in a Domestic Violence investigation in December of 2024 in which Vanblarcom was charged with Domestic Violence – 2nd Degree. The female victim also had an active Order of Protection against Vanblarcom.
Vanblarcom was arrested on February 11th of this year on the Domestic Violence – 2nd Degree charge and was required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, upon his release from jail.
Vanblarcom was wanted by the Sheriff’s Office for Violating the Order of Protection due to evidence obtained that showed Vanblarcom being at the victim’s address last Thursday, March 13th. Vanblarom was also wanted by the Sheriff’s Office for removing his ankle monitor in Anderson County on March 16th. The ankle monitor was located by a Deputy with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office on the side of the road near Pendleton.
Vanblarcom was taken into custody without incident yesterday. On his way to the jail, Vanblarcom told the Deputy that he had a quantity of Methamphetamine, which was located in Vanblarcom’s sock by the transporting Deputy.
As the investigation continued, a Violent Crimes Investigator obtained evidence that showed that Vanblarcom made entry into the victim’s home on Monday, assaulted the victim, forced the victim to leave her home and go with him in the motorhome and damaged her phone.
Due to the location of the arrest yesterday being on the Sumter National Forest property, an officer from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources was contacted, and responded to the scene, to conduct a separate investigation.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank our law enforcement partners with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division with their assistance and help.
