(Walhalla, SC)---------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing today the first drug round-up of 2024.
The Sheriff’s Office began the operation with a meeting and briefing at 8:30am yesterday morning at the Law Enforcement Center in Walhalla.
The Sheriff’s Office obtained 41 arrest warrants on 27 subjects. The arrest warrants were obtained based on controlled purchases of narcotics by undercover operatives working at the direction of the Sheriff’s Office. One subject was charged with having possession of narcotics while incarcerated inside of the Oconee County Detention Center in 2023 with warrants being obtained after the narcotics were tested. Among the narcotics purchased during the controlled buys were Fentanyl, Heroin, Methamphetamine, Marijuana and Prescription Medication.
As of today 1pm today, 10 subjects had been arrested so far and/or were already in jail and will or have been served their warrants. Here are the names of those subjects:
Joshua James Witherington

Distribution of Methamphetamine – 4 counts
Witherington was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center, on unrelated charges, on December 1st, 2023. The four arrest warrants have been served on Witherington in jail, where he remains in custody at this time. Witherington was given a combined $300,000 surety bond on the four charges.

Distribution of Prescription Medication – 2 counts
Moore was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 2:25pm on Wednesday, February 21st. Maria received a combined $20,000 personal recognizance bond on her charges and was released from jail yesterday.
William Woodrow Bearden

Bearden was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center, on unrelated charges, on October 4th, 2023. The three arrest warrants have been served on Bearden in jail, where he remains at this time. Bearden received a combined $45,000 surety bond on the three arrest warrants.

McJunkin was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 10:24am on Wednesday, February 21st. At this time, McJunkin remains in jail on a combined $200,000 surety bond. McJunkin will have to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released from jail.

Lee was arrested and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 7:03pm on Wednesday, February 21st. At this time, Lee remains in jail pending a bond hearing.

Addis, Sr. is currently incarcerated in a South Carolina Department of Corrections facility and his arrest warrant will be served at a later date.

Bryson was arrested on Wednesday, February 21st and was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 2:50pm. At this time, Bryson remains in jail on a $25,000 surety bond

Addis, Jr. was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 6:40pm on Wednesday, February 21st. Addis, Jr. was also served a Family Court Bench Warrant. At this time, Addis, Jr. remains in jail on a $100,000 surety bond on the drug charge.
