Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Announces Additional Arrests in the Second Drug Round-Up of 2023

(Walhalla, SC)---------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing today additional arrests in the second drug round-up of 2023.


The Sheriff’s Office began the operation with a meeting and briefing at 8:30am last Thursday morning at the Law Enforcement Center in Walhalla.


The Sheriff’s Office obtained arrest warrants on 26 subjects. The arrest warrants were obtained based on controlled purchases of narcotics by undercover operatives working at the direction of the Sheriff’s Office. Among the narcotics purchased during the controlled buys were Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Fentanyl, Heroin, Methamphetamine, and Prescription Medication.


As of 2pm today, 12 subjects had been arrested so far and/or were already in jail and will or have been served their warrants. Here are the names of those subjects:

· Christopher Alonzo Robinson

29 years old

Seneca, SC

Distribution of Cocaine – 1 count

Robinson was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 4:12pm on Wednesday, October 3rd. At this time, Robinson remains in jail on a $35,000 surety bond.


· William Woodrow Bearden

40 years old

Seneca, SC

Distribution of Methamphetamine – 1 count

Bearden was arrested today, according to a Deputy assigned to the Warrants Unit of the Sheriff’s Office. Bearden is being processed at the Oconee County Detention Center.


Also, Narcotics Agents were notified last night that 46 year old James Edward Benton of Fair Play in in custody at the Anderson County Detention Center and a hold will be placed on him by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. Benton was wanted on one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine. Benton will be counted in the official arrest numbers later once he is transported to Oconee County and booked into jail here and served his arrest warrant.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating the remainder of those who are wanted in our ongoing round-up. Distribution of Methamphetamine – 2 counts


· Rebecca Lynne Lance

37 years old

Westminster, SC

Distribution of Fentanyl – 1 count


· Webster Maurice Thompson

47 years old

Seneca, SC

Distribution of Cocaine – 3 counts

24 years old
