Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Announces Additional Arrests in Second Drug Round-Up of 2022

(Walhalla, SC)---------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing two additional arrests in the second drug round-up of 2022.


The Sheriff’s Office began the operation on Thursday, September 1st with a meeting and briefing at 9:00am at the Law Enforcement Center in Walhalla.


The Sheriff’s Office obtained arrest warrants on 20 subjects. The arrest warrants were obtained based on controlled purchases of narcotics by undercover operatives working at the direction of the Sheriff’s Office. Among the narcotics purchased during the controlled buys by undercover operatives were Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Heroin, LSD, and Ecstasy.


As of 3pm today, nine individuals had been arrested so far and/or were already in jail and will or have been served their warrants. Here are the names of the two additional suspects arrested and their charges according to warrants:


· Barry Dee Palmer II

33 years old

Seneca, SC

Distribution of Heroin – 1 count

Distribution of Fentanyl – 1 count

Trafficking in Methamphetamine – 1 count

Palmer was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 7:07pm on Friday, September 2nd

Palmer was also arrested on an outstanding Magistrates Bench Warrant

At this time, Palmer remains in jail on a combined $90,000 surety bond

Palmer will also be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released


· Mitchell Adair Sloan

39 years old

Seneca, SC

Trafficking in Methamphetamine – 1 count

Sloan was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 7:48am on Wednesday, September 7th

At this time, Sloan remains in jail on a $100,000 surety bond

Sloan will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating the remainder of those who are wanted in our ongoing round-up. 53 years old

Seneca, SC

Distribution in Methamphetamine – 1 count


· Justin Marshall Gunn

36 years old

Walhalla, SC

Distribution of Methamphetamine – 3 counts

Distribution of Heroin – 1 count


· Joshua James Witherington

42 years old

Seneca, SC

Distribution of Methamphetamine – 1 count


· Teresa Lynn Worley

54 years old

Walhalla, SC

Distribution of Methamphetamine – 1 count

21 years old
