Missing Greenville County Man Found in Oconee County

Mark Patrick Wagnon

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Greenville County man, who was reported missing on Monday, was located today alive in Oconee County.

 

Oconee County Emergency Services Director Scott Krein says that 66 year old Mark Patrick Wagnon was located this afternoon at around 3:15pm by a volunteer search group. 

 

Mark was located approximately ½ mile from where his car was located late Thursday morning.  According to Director Krein, Mark was located near the Foothills Trail, in a valley near a creek, but not on a trail. 

 

Director Krein says that Mark is in good condition and was talking.  Mark did have a few minor injuries and was confused and dehydrated when he was located. 

 

Mark’s family has been notified that he was found alive.  After Mark was extracted by rescue members, he was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. 

 

Thursday afternoon, Oconee County Emergency Services established a unified command at Oconee State Park with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office in the search for Mark.

 

Unified Command would like to thank Greenville County Emergency Management, the Mountain Rest Fire Department, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, Prisma EMS, the South Carolina Department of Natural of Resources, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the South Carolina State Parks and the United States Forest Service, and other public safety agencies, for their help and assistance in this search.

 

Unified Command would like to thank all the volunteers and the volunteer search groups that were organized to search for Mark.
