“Today’s events at Walhalla High School demonstrate the importance of the partnership between the School District of Oconee County and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and our commitment to the safety of every school,” says Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw.  “The School Resource Officers help to build relationships with our students but their most important job is to provide safety and security for those who attend and work in our schools.  Today’s incident also drives home the point of the motto “See Something, Say Something.”  If anyone has any information about a potential school security threat, reach out to a teacher, an administrator or the SRO’s and report it immediately.  Seconds count when it comes to potentially saving a life.”

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
